I guess the idea behind it was for liberated women to go into a high street store and buy it without any type of guilt or inhibition , but no doubt the main buyer market was teenage boys and dirty old men
THE LOVERS GUIDE is groundbreaking in the fact that it publicised that the couples involved were real life partners but this is slightly dishonest , yes the main couple featured Wendy and her husband were indeed a real life couple who'd been married several years but there was some public controversy that at least one of the couples Kathryn ( The gorgeous brunette ) and Marino ( The well buffed geezer with a ponytail ) had never met one another until they appeared on set where they had unprotected sex for the camera . For a video that self righteously dedicates segments to safe sex it is rather hypocritical
Seeing as it's for education purposes and not pornography as such there's limits as to what can be shown but as a sex education video it's not uninformative though I doubt if you'll be gasping " I never knew that "
As a footnote the main couple featured became something of sexual problem agony aunts in the British press - Until it was revealed that Wendy's husband had a serious heart condition which put a stop to sex . I almost felt sorry for this couple who confessed that they used to make love as often as ten times a day but now couldn't make love once a day because it was too dangerous . My small amount of sympathy soon vanished when shortly afterwards the couple split up and raced off to the gutter press in order to dish the dirt on one another to the highest bidder .

十分政治正确的老美电影，节奏表演本子都过得去，也是许瑞德正常发挥，但就是不喜欢…
除了鱼眼镜头以外，还有极度喧嚣的音乐，其他部分都还在考验我的观影能力和耐心
替罪羊之无聊误打误撞学会算牌的帅气背头大叔。
3.5 非类型片。完全释放人物魅力的电影，在揭晓过程中仍始终保有神秘，等待观众的炸弹不知隐形埋藏于黑暗何方，一种神奇的悬念吸引。过于迟缓的动作拥有极为凝滞内化的公路电影特质，那赎罪的弧光，摄像机在角色间审慎飘游的距离，散发着松弛的场景魔力，恍如踏入河流前的虚无，有遮掩不住的坦诚存在。这部里奥斯卡·伊萨克性感冷峻的气质才是真的迷人……几分邪魅掺杂着骨子里根植的信仰坚毅，尽管施拉德在竭尽全力消灭这种围绕脆弱的困顿，却在后期逐渐演化成无法自拔的诡异质疑，似乎下一秒就要吞噬毁灭掉稳固的现状，也是一类呈现溃败的创作者。不难理解人们观看入口的参差，就像进入牌局的动机，清醒着迈入黑暗莫过是最大的痛苦。爱情的牢笼终归要靠现实的牢笼去打破，最后一镜已然诠释了起点与终点的浪漫源头，仅仅直视创作本身就已是珍贵的。

漠视幸运，拒绝成为幸福的人，背负过往伤痛成为赎罪，算牌人最后把一手好牌打坏，但也是他不得不实现的救赎。
86+ 冷靜克制，深渾雋永。我們總是賭上命運，拼著我們的孤勇做一些自己以爲正確的事。所以泰爾最後放棄了算牌，放棄了秩序和平靜（或許不是真正的平靜），而選擇了終結那骯髒成罪的過去。隔著屏幕的指頭點觸摸，猶如現代的拯救亞當，把整部電影升華成爲震撼人心的神跡。
看的时候觉得这个片儿和《第一归正会》有点像，原来一个导演。
以全片做铺垫为了引导别人看爽快血腥的复仇结局。。。结果就这。。。
赌牌是表，自我救赎是里，虐囚是因。日日背负良心谴责，却在一个叛逆废才青年身上找回内心深处的善良与正直。剧本很好，大部分时间电影都在铺垫和蓄势，叙述和表现手法非常克制，克制得近乎沉闷，但妙也妙在点到即止。气质上更接近文艺片。
虽然我看的很懵,但是这个影像风格实在是太强了
Cineplex. International Village. 之前只有Park Theatre在播，还一直挺想看的，结过心心念念，就这个？？？一言难尽的无聊，是的，是无聊，都算不上烂，纯粹觉得不知道为何要这样的平铺直叙，只记得在一个又一个的casino喝了一杯又一杯Double, neat, whiskey. 还有去一家motel就全屋裹被套，这两件事了
很古早味的气质，施拉德老爷子一贯喜欢讲的故事
极度克制的影片。可能就是因为克制到了极点，反而显得有点拘束。亮点在对监狱鱼眼镜头的展示，配上美式摇滚，真的让人在不寒而栗的同时又充满着新鲜刺激。爱情的片段更多的种“润滑剂”，给这部充满了克制、压抑的影片一点温度，不过可能也正因为此，影片的力度才显得不够，看完有种意犹未尽之感。
格调，节奏和配乐都很合意，尤其音乐，很棒。故事么，一般般，但是还是给五分
Great story, 同时有一些让人毛骨悚然的细节(USA!)。质感层面实在太糟糕了，基本在保全故事角色和美学制作上只取其一，拜托谁去再给他点钱（和时间）吧！
预想中精彩的赌局基本上没有的 只有梦呓一般的鱼眼ptsd噩梦重现 节奏太慢了节奏感也太差了 每个人物的出场又都莫名其妙没有连惯感 看得一直走神 浪费了奥斯卡的好演技
因为就像他自己也一再强调的，赌博只是打发时间的方式，是手段，不是目的。就像金钱、荣誉和另一位选手高呼的“America”都从来不是目的。重要的，是成为人，是过日子，是重拾爱，是和罪恶的一切搏斗，去寻找救赎和审判罪行。
